A cup of coffee,
and nothing around it.

Filter coffee is the cleanest way to taste what is in the bean, however it requires a grinder, a scale and patience. Terra Coffee provides the taste and drops the fuss: one 10 g dose of ground coffee in a paper filter that folds over the rim of any cup, anywhere.

Technology

A sealed Terra drip sachet

The machine is the sachet.

A drip sachet has to do three things at once: hold ten grams of ground coffee, hang square over a cup it has never met, and let water through at the right rate.

The answer is a hairpin fold. Two arms swing out of the sleeve and each frame folds back on itself, which cantilevers the filter and holds it level over rims between 60 and 90 mm. No ring, no clip, nothing to assemble.

  • FilterNon-woven cellulose, bonded by heat. Fine enough to hold the grounds, open enough to let the oils through.
  • GrindCalibrated for a three-minute contact time — coarser than espresso, finer than a French press.
  • SealFlushed with nitrogen and closed within the hour of grinding. Nine months unopened.

Efficiency

One cup, and nothing left over.

The main goal of the product is to provide an experience which is as efficient as possible for the consumer. Nothing to measure, nothing to clean, light to carry and easy to use anywhere.

  • Three minutesBloom thirty seconds, then two pours. Start to last drop.
  • No equipmentA kettle and a cup. No grinder, no scale, no dripper, no machine to descale.
  • No wasteThe dose is the serving. Nothing is brewed that will not be consumed.

Sustainability

Lowland plots at first light

Less to throw away, by design.

The filter is unbleached cellulose bonded by heat alone — no glue and no plastic mesh. Once brewed, the grounds and the filter go the same way as any paper filter and any spent grounds: onto the compost or into the organic bin.

That is the whole point of the format. A capsule puts a few grams of coffee inside a sealed shell of aluminium or plastic that has to be collected, sorted and reprocessed before any of it can be used again. A sachet has no shell.

  • No glueThe filter is welded, not stuck. Nothing is added that has to be separated afterwards.
  • UnbleachedThe paper is not whitened, so the step and the effluent that go with it do not happen.
  • Shipped flatLess air moved per kilo of coffee than any sealed single-serve format.
